Possible the most beautiful and without doubt the most famous of all shopping arcades in Leipzig is the Mädler Passage. This architecturally stunning arcade was built in 1912 to 1914 and replaced the former "Auerbachs Court," constructed by Heinrich Stromer von Auerbach. It was he who founded the, "Auerbachs Keller" in 1525, the most famous of Leipzig restaurants and which would later play a significant part in German folklore from the writings of Johann Wolfgang Goethe the "faust." You will find a number of luxury boutiques such as Swarovski, Carlo Colucci, Marc O'Polo and many more top brands.
